Starting with a 155kW/290Nm 2.0-litre boxer engine, the WRX grew from being a wolf in sheep's clothing to become the car it is today, where 197kW/350Nm is the norm and 221kW/407Nm is available in the 2.5-litre STi variant which can reach 100km/h in around five seconds. Although most WRXs " and both STi models " are six-speed manuals, CVT versions are also available. With help from variable-mode driveline controls, the WRX is fast and secure on all roads and, especially in STi form, very quick around a racetrack.
